What is your favourite thing about barre workouts?
There are quite a number of things about a barre workout that I enjoy. I love how the class is inspired by ballet while sculpting and toning as well as the feeling you get after of achievement and satisfaction. I also enjoy that there are still challenges and ways to make things harder so it’s not just a walk in the park and you can notice improvement quickly.
We
always find that clients are a bit unsure before starting a barre class
as they haven’t done ballet or dance before? What is your advice
for them?
I would tell clients to not stress about it, barre classes are very welcoming and beneficial for anyone and everyone so just give it a go and who knows, you could come out of the class thinking it was the most amazing class ever. What is there to lose?
For clients that haven’t tried your classes yet, what can they expect?
For anyone who has yet to try my classes, I say to come in with an
open mind and to let me know if there is anything in particular they
want to work on,
I like to consider myself fairly flexible in my class plans and
intentions for the day to make sure i am catering for everyone's needs.
They can expect
a fun and supportive environment and to come out feeling like they
have achieved something.
What is your approach to health? Do you go with the flow, or are you quite structured with your routine?
When I was training pre-professionally for ballet I loved structure,
waking up at 5:30am, having the same breakfast every day and only having
one cheat
meal a week. However in the past year, I have become a lot less
strict about schedule and more about listening to my body and doing
whatever it is
to keep it happy and healthy. Some days i wake up at 5:30am to do a
yoga practice just before the sun rises then have a cup of tea and
orange for breakfast,
other days I can sleep in till 7:30 and have a big bowl of Kitchari.
What is your favourite indulgence?
I honestly have too many to choose from, but if i had to I would say cheese. I love a good cheese platter watching a movie with a glass of wine. That’s the way to my heart.
There’s only 3 months left of the year! What are you excited to try before the year ends.
I can’t wait to try and get back into surfing again, my dad is
obsessed with it and is keen to teach me…. Again. Since i moved out of
home, i think
that would be a perfect bonding opportunity. Also, all of the
different classes Aerial Fit has to offer! So many unique classes i
haven’t tried yet.
Your stretch therapy class is really unique, how did you go about developing it?
When i started teaching yoga, i noticed many clients
complaining about sore necks and backs etc before class. I find anatomy
quite interesting
and would always go home and research what muscles they could be
having issues with and ways to resolve it. From my ballet background, I
know how good
a pressure point release feels when being tight in a particular
spot. From there, stretch therapy just grew into this really cool little
class and
I see as like my baby only to grow bigger and better.
